Bullet resistant windows are subject to the criteria established in the document UL752. AMBICO steel windows offer eight distinct levels of bullet resistance ranging from a small .38 handgun (Level 1) through to a 762 high powered military assault rifle (Level 8). When selecting an AMBICO bullet resistant windows do so with reference to the anticipated threat – please refer to the UL752 Standards Chart. If you are uncertain about your choice ask one of our professional salespeople for advice or e-mail us with your query.

Government buildings, army bases, banks, bomb shelters, security barriers, schools and universities, hospital emergency areas, casinos, and anywhere else requiring high security.
Yes, bullet resistant polycarbonate glass is available and is supplied loose for site installation. The bullet resistant capacity of the frame and glass must be complementary.
Maximum window sizes are determined based on the maximum glass size available. Typically, this is 60” x 96”. Multiple banked windows are available to limit glass size. Consult factory.
Several glazing types can be used for this type of product. At AMBICO, we typically use only glass polycarbonate material for our bullet-resistant windows.
As the name implies, these windows can resist bullet impacts and protect persons and valuables in any kind of space. Nevertheless, since we use polycarbonate glass for these products, there are many other benefits and options available for glazing. Glass polycarbonate offers protection at UL levels between one and ten. This type of material has increased resistance and can also be impact rated. Very durable and capable of handling extreme weather conditions, its performance level is nearly unmatched. In addition, it is a thinner and lighter product than other bullet-resistant glass options, which makes assembly easier within the frame.
Where thermal efficiency is a concern, you may choose to have an insulated glass unit. Alternatively, a film can be applied that creates a one-way or two-way mirror effect, which can reduce glare and increase privacy or security. Different privacy films are also possible. If you prefer a more muted look, various tints can help to block the sun’s rays.
Bullet-resistant windows can also be combined with other enhanced glass products that meet various test standards, such as impact resistance. Please consult the factory for more information regarding specifics.
Thanks to their materials and coating, these types of panes can improve energy efficiency inside any building. Their many layers act as a natural barrier to prevent the loss of indoor cooling and heating efficiencies and can be further glazed to ensure maximum sun resistance. These can also be combined with laminated glass in sealed insulated glass units (IGUs), which are excellent for improving energy efficiency where required. Proper installation will ensure no leaks or drafts can be detected, allowing your space to maintain a comfortable temperature at any time of year and save on your energy bill.
Our bullet-resistant windows are available to be combined with other performance requirements as needed, like acoustic or blast resistance. If you are interested in combination performance windows, it is best to consult the factory for specifics and more information.
Whether you’re looking for enhanced security or additional protection for your building, our bullet-resistant windows have you covered. If you’re interested in more details about these or any of our products, reach out to us.
